Illustration for Oranga Tamariki Act 1989

If you are a child or young person in hospital because of an order made under section 181(1), you can be released or go back to where you live. This can happen even if the time you were supposed to be in hospital has not ended yet. The person in charge of the hospital can decide to let you go if they think you do not need to be assessed anymore or that you do not need to be watched anymore, and they write this down.
