If you want to review a decision to transfer a protection order, you must do it within 13 working days. You have to serve the chief executive with the review proceedings within this time, and you cannot extend the 13-working day period. When you file the review proceedings, it stops the decision from happening until the review is finished or withdrawn.

If you decide to review the decision, it will operate as a stay of the decision. This means the decision is put on hold until the review proceedings are withdrawn or finally determined. You can find more information about how this law was changed by looking at the Children, Young Persons, and Their Families (Trans-Tasman Transfer of Protection Orders and Proceedings) Amendment Act 1999.
