The Governor-General can make rules for the Youth Court. You can find these rules in the Order in Council. The rules help the Youth Court work properly under the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989.

Other courts, like the High Court, District Court, and Family Court, have their own rules too. The High Court rules are made under section 148 of the Senior Courts Act 2016. The District Court rules are made under section 228 of the District Court Act 2016.

The Family Court rules are made under section 16A of the Family Court Act 1980. These rules are called secondary legislation, which means they are made under a law. You can learn more about secondary legislation in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.
