The chief executive can give money or other help to organisations or people who care for children and young people. This help is for people who have to follow orders made under the Oranga Tamariki Act, such as those referred to in section 86, section 91, section 283(k), section 298, or section 307. You might get this help if you are a parent, guardian, or caregiver of a child or young person who has an order made about them.

The chief executive can also give money or other help to you if you are a young person with an order made about you. This help is to assist you with your care.

The chief executive can give grants or provide financial or other assistance to any person or organisation who is caring for a child or young person because of an order under this Act about the child's or young person's custody or guardianship.

Financial matters

388Financial and other assistance in respect of children and young persons subject to orders made under this Act

  1. The chief executive may, from time to time, make grants or provide financial or other assistance—

  2. to any organisation or person referred to in any order made under section 86 or section 91 or section 283(k) or section 298 or section 307 for the purpose of assisting that organisation or person to carry out the terms of the order:
    1. to any parent or guardian or other person having the care of the child or young person to whom the order relates for the purpose of assisting that parent or guardian or other person to care for the child or young person:
      1. to any young person to whom the order relates.
        1. The chief executive may, from time to time, make grants or provide financial or other assistance to any person or organisation having the care of a child or young person pursuant to any order under this Act relating to the custody or guardianship of the child or young person.
