When you read section 221 of the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989, you need to know it does not change other laws. These laws are about what people can say in court or what information they have to give to officials. You can still find these laws in other parts of the legislation, like the rules about what you have to tell an enforcement officer.

If you look at section 221, you will see it does not limit other laws that say what can be used as evidence in court. This means other laws about what people can say or do in court still apply. These laws are about statements and confessions, and about giving information to officials.

Other laws that require you to give information to an enforcement officer are also still in place. You have to follow these laws and give the required information. These laws are separate from section 221 and are not changed by it.
