Illustration for Oranga Tamariki Act 1989

When you are part of a family group conference, you must think about whether you or your parents should attend certain programmes. You have to consider if you should go to a parenting education programme, a mentoring programme, or an alcohol or drug rehabilitation programme. You also have to think about if your parents or guardians should attend a parenting education programme, as stated in section 208(fa).

You need to look at these options to see what is best for you and your family. The conference will talk about what programmes might be helpful for you. They want to make sure you get the support you need.

The people at the conference want to help you and your family make good choices. They will discuss what programmes are available to help you. This is all part of following the rules set out in the law.
