Oranga Tamariki Act 1989

Care and protection of children and young persons - Custody orders

109: Custody to revert on expiry of order

You could also call this:

"What happens to a child when a custody order ends and they go back to their original caregiver"

Illustration for Oranga Tamariki Act 1989

When a custody order made under section 101 ends, you need to know what happens to the child or young person. The child or young person will go back to living with the person who was taking care of them before the order was made. This happens automatically when the order expires, so the child or young person's custody reverts to the person who had it before.
