The Minister has to report to Parliament about how well the laws and policies are working for children and young people. You want to know if the laws and policies are meeting the needs of all children and young people, and especially if they are meeting the needs of Māori children and young people. The Minister also has to say if any changes are needed to the laws and policies to make sure all children and young people are getting what they need.

The Minister has to do this report by 1 July 2022, and then again every three years after that. You can find out more about the laws that were changed to make this happen by looking at the Children, Young Persons, and Their Families (Oranga Tamariki) Legislation Act 2017. The Minister's report will look at whether the laws and policies are working for children and young people, and if not, what changes might be needed.

The report will check if the needs of children and young people are being met, and if the laws and policies are working to support them.
