Illustration for Oranga Tamariki Act 1989

If you are a young person and a court finds a charge against you proved, the court can make some decisions. The court can make a new order under section 283, in addition to the order you are already subject to, as long as it follows section 285(5). The court can also cancel the order you are subject to and make a new order under section 283.

If the court decides to make a new order, it can choose what it thinks is best. The court has two options: it can add a new order to your existing one, or it can replace your existing order with a new one. You will have to follow the new order the court makes.
