Illustration for Oranga Tamariki Act 1989

The chief executive can check how well an iwi social service or a child and family support service is working. You might wonder what they are checking for - it is to see how the service is operating, the care being provided to children and young people, and the practices and procedures in place. The chief executive wants to make sure these services are doing a good job.

When the chief executive's delegate checks a service, they will write a report about what they found. The chief executive will get a copy of this report and will also send a copy to the service that was checked.

The chief executive is in charge of making sure these services are working well, so they need to keep an eye on them and make sure they are following the right rules and procedures.
