Local Government Act 2002

Specific obligations and restrictions on local authorities and other persons - Obligations and restrictions relating to provision of water services - Closure or transfer of small water services

135: Criteria for transfer of water service

You could also call this:

“Rules for giving a water service to a community group”

You can only give a water service to a community group if you do some things first. You need to make a plan that shows how the community group will look after the water service. You also need to work out how much money the community group might need to spend to keep the water service running in the future. Lastly, you need to check if the community group can do a good job of running the water service. These steps help make sure the community group is ready to take over the water service.
