Local Government Act 2002

Regulatory, enforcement, and coercive powers of local authorities - Development contributions - Development agreements

207A: Request to enter development agreement

You could also call this:

“Asking or being asked to make a special building deal with the local council”

You can ask a local council to make a development agreement with you if you’re a developer. This means you write to the council and ask them to enter into this agreement with you. The council can also ask you to make an agreement with them by writing to you first.

Remember, the council has other powers too. These powers are listed in section 12 of the law, and this new rule doesn’t change those powers.
