This section is about water organisations that are controlled by a council. If you are part of a council-controlled water organisation, or if you own shares in one, this section applies to you. You can find out what a water organisation is by looking at section 6(1AAB).

The people in charge of the water organisation, and its shareholders, have to follow Part 4 of the Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025. However, they do not have to follow certain parts of this Act, which are sections 64 to 69 and Schedule 8.

You will need to look at these sections to understand what you have to do, and what you do not have to do, if you are part of a council-controlled water organisation.
