Local Government Act 2002

Governance and management of local authorities and community boards - Local boards

48C: Purpose of local boards

You could also call this:

“Local boards help you and your neighbours decide what happens in your area”

The purpose of a local board in your area is to help you and your community make decisions about local matters. This means that you and your neighbours can have a say in what happens in your area.

The local board also helps make sure that the overall goals of local government are met in your neighbourhood. This could include things like making sure your area is a good place to live, work, and play.

These boards are there to make sure your voice is heard and that your local area gets the attention it needs. They help bring the big ideas of local government down to the level of your street and community.
