Local Government Act 2002

Regulatory, enforcement, and coercive powers of local authorities - Powers of local authorities to make bylaws - Procedure for making bylaws

157: Public notice of bylaws and availability of copies

You could also call this:

“Telling everyone about new rules and how to see them”

When a local authority makes a new bylaw, they need to tell the public about it as soon as they can. They will put out a notice that tells you when the bylaw will start working. The notice will also say that you can look at the bylaw and get a copy of it from the local authority’s office if you pay a small fee.

The local authority has to keep copies of all their bylaws at their office. You can go to their office during reasonable hours and look at the bylaws for free. If you want your own copy of a bylaw, you can ask the local authority for one. They will give it to you, but you might have to pay a small fee for it.
