Local Government Act 2002

Regulatory, enforcement, and coercive powers of local authorities - Powers of local authorities to make bylaws - Review of bylaws made under this Act or the Local Government Act 1974

158: Review of bylaws made under this Act or the Local Government Act 1974

You could also call this:

“Check and update local rules within 5 years”

You need to review bylaws made by your local authority under this Act or the Maritime Transport Act 1994 within 5 years of when they were made. This doesn’t include bylaws that are considered to be made under this Act by section 293.

If your local authority made bylaws under the Local Government Act 1974, they also need to be reviewed. For bylaws made before 1 July 2003, the review had to be done by 1 July 2008. For bylaws made after 1 July 2003, they need to be reviewed within 5 years of when they were made. This also doesn’t include bylaws that are considered to be made under this Act by section 293.
