Local Government Act 2002

Offences, penalties, infringement offences, and legal proceedings - Offences - Offences relating to water meters

227: Offences relating to water meters

You could also call this:

“Breaking rules about water meters can get you in trouble”

You can commit an offence if you mess with water meters without permission from the local authority. This includes changing the meter’s reading or moving it from its position. If you do this, you could be punished as set out in section 242(1). Remember, it’s important to leave water meters alone unless you have written permission from the local authority to change them.
