The Minister can choose one person or a group of people to be a Crown facilitator for water services. You need to know that if the Minister chooses a group, they must pick one person to be in charge. The Minister tells the person or group they have been chosen by sending them a written notice.

The written notice must include important information, such as why the Minister made the appointment and what the Crown facilitator's job is. It must also say how much authority the Crown facilitator has and when their appointment starts and ends. The notice will tell you which local authority, water organisation, or consumer trust the Crown facilitator will be working with.

The Minister makes the appointment official by sending the written notice to the person or group, as stated in the Local Government (Water Services) (Repeals and Amendments) Act 2025. You can find more information about this in the legislation. The appointment is part of the Local Government Act 2002.
