The Governor-General can make rules about a certain type of advertisement. You need to know what these rules cover, they are about how the advertisement looks, including its design, layout, shape, and colour. The rules also cover what you must do before you display the advertisement.

These rules are made to keep road users safe, and they only apply for a certain time, which is 9 weeks before polling day and the day before polling day. The rules can be different depending on how the advertisement is published. They can also override other laws or bylaws.

The rules are about a specific type of advertisement, which is explained in section 221B(2). This section is also subject to section 267B. You can find out more about how these rules are published by looking at Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.
