The Electoral Commission has a job to do when a political party's details change. If the parties that make up a bigger political party are different from what is recorded, you need to know the Electoral Commission must update the records. They do this by changing the Register of Political Parties to match the new information they received under section 127(3A) and section 62(2).

The Electoral Commission must then tell everyone about the change by publishing a notice in the Gazette. This notice says what changes were made to the Register of Political Parties.

You can find out more about how the Electoral Commission does this by looking at the rules they follow, which are outlined in the Electoral (Administration) Amendment Act 2010.
