Illustration for Electoral Act 1993

The Electoral Commission has to choose a Registrar of Electors for each area where people vote. They can also choose a Deputy Registrar for any of these areas if they want to. The Electoral Commission can even choose a Registrar or Deputy Registrar for an area that does not exist yet. You need to know that the Registrar and Deputy Registrar must be people who work with elections. They cannot have an important role in any political party. The Deputy Registrar can do the same job as the Registrar, but they have to follow the Registrar's instructions.
