Illustration for Electoral Act 1993

The House of Representatives will appoint a group to look at some important things. You will want to know what they are looking at, which includes how some parts of the law affect elections, and the rules about Maori representation in the law. They will also think about whether there should be another vote on changing the electoral system.

This group will tell the House of Representatives what they think before 1 June 2002. You might wonder what they will say, which could include whether they think some parts of the law, like sections 35 and 36, should be changed. They will also say if they think the rules about Maori representation should be changed, and if they think there should be another vote on the electoral system.

They will give their ideas on what should be voted on and when the vote should happen, if they think there should be another one.
