86AADDirector of Mental Health to collect and send registration information to Electoral Commission

  1. If a person referred to in section 86AAB or 86AAC wants their registration details sent to the Electoral Commission to facilitate their registration as an elector, the person must provide to the Director of Mental Health the following registration information for that purpose:

  2. their details required by section 83(2); and
    1. if the person is Māori, whether their choice is to be registered in a Māori electoral district or a General electoral district.
      1. The Director of Mental Health must collect the registration information provided by the person and send that information to the Electoral Commission as soon as is reasonably practicable.

      2. If the person wishes to apply for a direction under section 115 (unpublished names), the Director of Mental Health must—

      3. assist the person to prepare an application accompanied by supporting information; and
        1. send the application and supporting information to the Electoral Commission with the person's registration information.
          1. The Director of Mental Health may not use or disclose the registration information collected from the person other than in accordance with subsection (2) or (3).
