If you change your name under section 69 or 70 of the Births, Deaths, Marriages, and Relationships Registration Act 2021, this section applies to you. The Registrar-General must give the Electoral Commission some information about you. This includes your old name, your new name, your date of birth, and your full address.

The Registrar-General is appointed under section 124(1) of the Births, Deaths, Marriages, and Relationships Registration Act 2021. They must provide this information to the Electoral Commission so they can check if any changes are needed to your details on the electoral roll. This is so your details are up to date.
