You can apply to be on the electoral roll by giving information to the Electoral Commission. You can do this in writing or electronically. The Electoral Commission has a special form you need to fill out.

When you apply, you need to tell the Electoral Commission your full name, date of birth, and where you live. You also need to give your postal address if it is different from where you live. You might need to give some other details too.

The Electoral Commission can say no to your application if you do not fill out the form properly. If they say no, it is like you never applied. If you do not say if you are Maori or not, it will be like you said you are not Maori.

You can also use a special vote declaration as an application to be on the electoral roll. The Electoral Commission must approve the form you use. You need to sign the form and fill it out with the right details.
