Electoral Act 1993

Election advertising - Registered promoters

204R: Establishment of register

You could also call this:

"Creating a list of people and groups allowed to advertise during elections"

Illustration for Electoral Act 1993

The Electoral Commission has to make a list of people or groups who are registered to do election advertising. You can think of this list like a big book that keeps track of who is allowed to advertise during elections. The Electoral Commission will put the name and address of each registered promoter in this book.

The Electoral Commission will also add the names of certain people if they were listed in the promoter's application, as required by section 204L(2)(a)(ii), (b), and (c). This is so they have all the information they need about each promoter. The Electoral Commission can add any other information they think is necessary to the book.

The Electoral Commission is in charge of keeping this book up to date and making sure it has all the right information.
