Registration of electors - Objections to registration

95B: Power to remove name from roll

You could also call this:

"What happens if someone says you shouldn't be on the electoral roll"

Illustration for Electoral Act 1993

If someone objects to you being on the electoral roll, you will get a notice. You have 14 days to respond. You can respond yourself, or someone who looks after you, like a welfare guardian under section 12(1) of the Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act 1988, or an attorney you appointed, can respond for you. If you do not show you are allowed to be on the roll, or if you agree to be removed, the Electoral Commission will take your name off the roll, unless the person who objected changes their mind. The Electoral Commission will then tell you and the other parties what they have done.
