204P: Cancellation of registration

You could also call this:

"When a promoter's registration is stopped by the Electoral Commission."

Illustration for Electoral Act 1993

The Electoral Commission has to cancel a promoter's registration if they are not eligible or if the promoter asks them to. You can ask the Electoral Commission to cancel your registration, but only if you have not spent more than a certain amount on election advertisements, which is specified in section 204B(1)(d). If the Electoral Commission cancels your registration, they will send you a written notice within 10 working days to tell you that your registration has been cancelled and why. The Electoral Commission will tell you the reason for the cancellation in the written notice. You will know why your registration was cancelled when you get the notice from the Electoral Commission.
