You can vote before the actual polling day in an election. During the advance polling period, you can get ballot papers. You can get an ordinary ballot paper if the voting rolls can be marked to show you have voted, as stated in section 167, or special vote ballot papers as stated in section 172 in other cases. 171AVoting in advance of polling day

  1. During the advance polling period for an election in any district, an advance voter may—

  2. be issued with—
    1. an ordinary ballot paper for the election under section 167 if the rolls can be marked (either manually or by electronic means) to indicate the person has applied to vote; or
      1. special vote ballot papers under section 172 in any other case; and
      2. vote at the election.
