You need to know what happens when the Electoral Commission gets information from the Director of Mental Health. The Electoral Commission must treat this information as an application to register as a voter. This applies to information about a person's details and their preference for the Māori electoral roll, as outlined in section 86AAD(1)(a) and section 86AAD(1)(b). The Electoral Commission must also follow this rule even if it overrides other rules, such as section 83(1) to (4). This means the Electoral Commission will use the information to register you as a voter. The rules about registering as a voter are important for the Electoral Commission to follow. The Electoral Commission has to treat the information it gets as a request to register you on the electoral roll. This is how the Electoral Commission will use the information it gets from the Director of Mental Health. You will be registered as a voter if the Electoral Commission gets this information about you.
