Accident Compensation Act 2001

Entitlements and related matters - General provisions

128: Payment for rehabilitation to claimant outside New Zealand

You could also call this:

“ACC usually can't pay for your treatment if you're in another country”

If you are outside of New Zealand, the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) cannot pay for any rehabilitation costs you might have there. There are only two exceptions to this rule. The first is if section 129 of the Act applies to your situation. The second is if there are specific rules (called regulations) that say ACC must pay. Apart from these two cases, ACC is not allowed to pay for your rehabilitation costs if you’re outside New Zealand.
