Part 7 Accident Compensation Corporation
Information about work-related injuries

286Corporation to provide information to Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment and to health and safety regulators

  1. The Corporation must provide to the chief executive of the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment or to a health and safety regulator any information held by the Corporation under this Act that—

  2. relates to—
    1. employers; or
      1. workplaces; or
        1. claims for work-related personal injury; and
        2. is of a type specified for the purpose of this section in an agreement between the Corporation and the chief executive of the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment or the health and safety regulator as the case may be.

          1. The chief executive of the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment and the health and safety regulator may use the information only for 1 or more of the following purposes:

          2. to support the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment in its administration of any provisions of the relevant Acts:
            1. to support the health and safety regulator in carrying out its functions under any provisions of the relevant Acts:
              1. to ensure appropriate co-ordination of activities with the Corporation and other relevant agencies:
                1. in the case of the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment, to support the Ministry’s responsibilities for workforce development and employment creation.

                  1. The power conferred on the chief executive of the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment and on health and safety regulators by subsection (2) includes (without limitation) power to provide information received under this section to any agency designated under section 28B of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, but only for the purpose of supporting the agency’s functions under that Act.

                  2. The Corporation must provide the information in accordance with the agreement referred to in subsection (1)(b).

                  3. In subsection (2), relevant Acts means—
