Accident Compensation Act 2001

Dispute resolution - Reviews

140: Conduct of review: general principles

You could also call this:

"Rules for reviewing accident compensation decisions"

When someone reviews a decision about accident compensation, they can do it in whatever way they think is best. But there are some important rules they must follow.

You need to follow section 138 of the law. You also need to follow any other parts of the law that apply, including any rules made under the law.

You have to be fair to everyone involved. This means listening to all sides and not making up your mind before you hear everything.

You need to be careful and thorough when making your decision. Take your time to think about everything properly.

Finally, you should try to find out all the facts yourself. Do this in a way that's relaxed, quick, and practical. Don't make it too formal or complicated.
