“This rule about punishing people for breaking the law was removed in 2013”
This part of the law, called ‘Summary conviction’, used to be in the Accident Compensation Act 2001. However, it no longer exists. The government removed it on 1 July 2013. They did this as part of changes made by another law called the Criminal Procedure Act 2011. If you want to know more about why this change happened, you might need to look at that other law.
