Accident Compensation Act 2001

Miscellaneous provisions - Proceedings

320: Corporation to be heard

You could also call this:

“ACC must be included in legal cases about injuries”

When someone is involved in a legal case about personal injury, the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) needs to be involved. This applies to cases where someone might have been hurt and is covered by ACC, or if they were hurt under older laws, or if they died because of these injuries.

You can’t make a decision in these cases without ACC being part of it. If ACC isn’t already involved in the case, you need to give them a chance to share their thoughts. This means that before any judge, court, or group makes a final decision, they must let ACC have their say.
