Miscellaneous provisions - Repeal of and amendments to provisions relating to residual levies

336C: Repeal of and amendments to provisions relating to residual levies for Earners’ Account

You could also call this:

"Changes to special payments for workers"

This section talks about removing and changing some rules about special payments for people who earn money. These special payments are called residual levies for the Earners' Account.

The changes will happen on a certain day. This day is called the effective date. The effective date will be either 1 April 2019 or an earlier day that the Minister chooses.

On the effective date, three things will happen:

  1. A part of section 218(5)(b) will be removed.
  2. All of section 220A will be removed.
  3. A part of section 329(1)(m)(iii) will be removed.

If the Minister chooses a date for the effective date, they have to announce it officially. This announcement is called secondary legislation, which means it has to be published in a special way.
