Accident Compensation Act 2001

Miscellaneous provisions - Regulation-making powers

335: Regulations may prescribe offences and fines

You could also call this:

“Rules can be made about breaking ACC laws and how much you might have to pay”

The Governor-General can make rules about breaking the law related to this Act. These rules can say what actions are against the law and how much money you might have to pay if you break these rules.

The Governor-General needs the Minister to suggest these rules first. Then, they can make an official order to create the rules.

These rules can say what happens if you don’t follow the rules made for this Act or if you don’t do what the rules tell you to do.

If you break these rules, you might have to pay a fine. The fine can be up to $500.

These rules are a type of law called secondary legislation. This means they need to be shared with the public in a special way, which is explained in another law called the Legislation Act 2019.
