Social Security Act 2018

General provisions

4: Principles

You could also call this:

“Main ideas for helping people with jobs and money”

This law explains the main ideas that people working with social security should think about. When you’re old enough to work, having a job is seen as the best way for you to have a good life and enough money. If you can work, the most important thing is to find a job and keep it. If you can’t work right now, people should help you get ready for work in the future and learn skills that will help you get a job. If you can’t work at all, you should still get help from the government. These ideas help guide the people who make decisions about social security.
