The factors affecting a benefit are:
- jobseeker profiles:
- pre-benefit activities:
- insurance recovery:
- entitlement to an overseas pension:

- shared care of a dependent child:
- compensation or damages:
- the grant of a veteran’s entitlement:
- a personal benefit excluding a benefit on behalf of a spouse or partner:
- a maintenance claim:
- a family protection claim:
- not being ordinarily resident in New Zealand:
- refugee or protected person status:
- hospitalisation:
- alcohol and drug treatment:
- the issue of a warrant for a beneficiary’s arrest:
- custody in prison or on remand:
- absence from New Zealand:

- voluntary unemployment or loss of employment through misconduct, etc:
- a non-entitlement period, stand down, or 100% suspension of benefit.
