Social Security Act 2018

Other provisions - Regulations

419: Regulations: general powers not limited by special powers

You could also call this:

“Government can use both general and special powers to make social security rules”

The law says that the government can make rules about social security in different ways. Sometimes, they use a special power to make a specific rule. Other times, they use a general power to make lots of different rules. This part of the law tells you that using the general power doesn’t stop the government from also using special powers. It’s like having a big toolbox with lots of different tools. Just because you use the hammer doesn’t mean you can’t also use the screwdriver when you need it.
