If you get certain benefits from MSD (Ministry of Social Development), you might need to have a work ability assessment. This applies to you if you get jobseeker support, sole parent support, a supported living payment, or an emergency benefit. It also applies if you’re married to or living with someone who gets these benefits. MSD can ask you to do this assessment, and you need to follow their instructions. There’s a special rule for some people on supported living payments, which is explained in another part of the law.
