Social Security Act 2018

Obligations - Beneficiaries’ obligations - Beneficiaries: general and specific obligations

110: When obligations apply

You could also call this:

“Rules you must follow when getting benefit money”

You need to follow certain rules when you get benefits. These rules start as soon as you start getting the benefit money. But there are two exceptions to this. First, you have to have a bank account and tell MSD (Ministry of Social Development) about it before you get any money. Second, if you’re a young parent with a child under 12 months old, you don’t have to start education or training right away. The rule about education or training for young parents is explained in another part of the law.
