227: What happens if basic rule applies

You could also call this:

"What happens to your benefit if the basic rule applies to you?"

Illustration for Social Security Act 2018

If the basic rule applies to you, the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) must cancel your benefit if it has already been granted. MSD must not grant you the benefit in any other case. You are not entitled to the cancelled benefit or a work-tested benefit for 13 weeks. However, MSD may decide not to apply this rule under section 228. This rule does not apply if certain other sections of the law apply, including sections 246 to 248, section 320, section 323, and section 324.
