Social Security Act 2018

Obligations - Beneficiaries’ obligations - Specific obligations: work preparation

126: Person who fails to comply with work-preparation obligation subject to sanction

You could also call this:

“You may be punished if you don't do your work-preparation tasks without a good reason”

If you don’t follow your work-preparation obligation without a good reason, you might face a sanction. A sanction is a type of punishment. The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) decides if you had a good reason for not following your obligation. If they think you didn’t have a good reason, they can give you a sanction. The rules about sanctions are in sections 236, 237, and 238 of the law.
