173Applicant for benefit, etc, to take reasonable steps to obtain overseas pension

  1. This section applies if—

  2. a person (A) is an applicant for a benefit under the NZ benefits legislation; and
    1. 1 or more of the following persons may be entitled to an overseas pension or may be granted an overseas pension:
      1. A:
        1. A’s spouse or partner:
          1. A’s dependant.
          2. If this section applies,—

          3. A and A’s spouse or partner must take all reasonable steps to obtain the overseas pension to which either or both of them may be entitled or that may be granted to either or both of them; and
            1. A must take all reasonable steps to obtain the overseas pension to which A’s dependant may be entitled or that may be granted to A’s dependant.
