Social Security Act 2018

Obligations - Beneficiaries’ obligations - Specific obligations: work preparation

125: Work-preparation obligations as required by MSD

You could also call this:

“MSD can make you do things to get ready for work”

If you have to follow work-preparation obligations, MSD might ask you to do certain things. You need to plan for employment when they tell you to. Sometimes, you’ll have to go to meetings with someone from MSD or someone working for them. MSD might also ask you to tell them how well you’re following these rules. You’ll need to do this as often as they say and in the way they want.

MSD might tell you to do activities that they think will help you get ready for work or find a job. These activities could be things like having your work skills checked, going to classes to learn new skills or feel more motivated, trying out different jobs, getting job training, going to school, or doing other activities that could help you. These other activities might include getting better after being sick, but won’t include medical treatment, volunteer work you choose to do, or community activities.
