Social Security Act 2018

Obligations - Beneficiaries’ obligations - Specific obligations: work ability assessment

119: Person who fails to comply with requirement to undergo work ability assessment is subject to sanction

You could also call this:

“You might lose money if you miss a work ability test without a good reason”

If you are asked to go to a work ability assessment or reassessment, you must attend and take part. If you don’t go without a good reason, you may face a penalty. This penalty is called a sanction. The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) decides if you had a good reason for not going. If they think you didn’t have a good reason, they can give you a sanction. The rules about these sanctions are in sections 236, 237, and 238 of the Social Security Act.
