Social Security Act 2018

Obligations - Beneficiaries’ obligations - General obligations: obligations in relation to overseas pensions

175: MSD may give notice requiring person to take reasonable steps to obtain overseas pension for dependant

You could also call this:

“MSD can ask you to help your dependant get a pension from another country”

The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) can send you a written notice if you apply for or receive a benefit in New Zealand. This notice can ask you to do everything you can to get an overseas pension for someone who depends on you. The notice will tell you what you need to do and how long you have to do it. You might get this notice if MSD thinks your dependant could get a pension from another country.
