Social Security Act 2018

Administration - Review of entitlement to, or rate of, benefit granted

308: Another benefit more appropriate

You could also call this:

“MSD can change your benefit if they think a different one suits you better”

If MSD (Ministry of Social Development) thinks you should be getting a different benefit after they review your case, they can change it. Here’s what happens:

MSD looks at your situation and decides if another benefit would be better for you. If they think so, they can stop your current benefit. Then, they can start giving you the new benefit right away, from the same day they stopped the old one.

This helps make sure you’re getting the right kind of support. MSD wants to make sure you’re getting the benefit that fits your needs best.
