287A: Procedure for imposing sanctions under section 276(2) or 278(2)

If you are a young person with a sanction, this section applies to you. You get a sanction under sections like sections 233 and 236 to 239. You also get a sanction if you fail to do something that section 276(2)(a) or (b) or 278(2)(a) or (b) says must be treated as having happened.

When you have a sanction, section 242 applies to you, but with some changes. These changes are that when section 242(1) says "24 months", it means "12 months" for you. Also, when section 242(3) says "24-month period", it means "12-month period" for you.

287AProcedure for imposing sanctions under section 276(2) or 278(2)

  1. This section applies to a young person who is subject to a sanction—

  2. under any of sections 233 and 236 to 239; and
    1. for a failure that section 276(2)(a) or (b) or 278(2)(a) or (b) requires to be treated as having occurred.
      1. Section 242 applies to the young person—

      2. with any necessary modifications; and
        1. subject to the express modifications set out in subsection (3).
          1. The express modifications referred to in subsection (2)(b) are as follows:

          2. the words “24 months” in section 242(1) must be read as “12 months”:
            1. the words “24-month period” in section 242(3) must be read as “12-month period”.
